Who are the brains behind Microsoft?........We are! 34% of Microsoft's employees are Indians

Who invented Chess.....We did! Chess was invented in India

Who invented the Number Zero....The Aryabhatta (Indians!) and without us there would be no no Zero!

Who discovered pi?....Budhayana (India) in the 6th Century! He calculated pi and explained the concept of what is now known as Pythagoras Theorem. British Scholars in 1999 officially published Budhayan's work on Pi from the 6th Century, long before European Mathematicians! And without him, the world would be erm.....flat!
Keep watching this space for more interesting facts!

If you have any little known facts about India or Indians and the advances we have made, lets all hear about them and display them proudly for all to see!

One of the cradles of civilizations was the Indus Valley Civilisation. Whilst many cultures were only nomadic forest dwellers over 5000 years, the Indians established the Harappan Culture in the Sindhu Valley in Punjab.

In about 499 AD,the astronomer, Aryabhata proposed that the Earth was a sphere and spun on its axis.

He also calculated the length of a year extremely accurately as 365.3586 days. At the time his theories were rejected as being too revolutionary!

Largest School
The world's largest school by pupils is the City Montessori School, Lucknow, India, which by September 2002 had a record enrolment of 26,312 pupils. The school was founded in 1959 by Mr. Jagdish Gandhi, a socially motivated Gandhian, along with his wife Mrs. Bharti Gandhi, M.Ed., a child psychologist. The pair launched their first campus on borrowed capital of 300 rupees, housed it in rented premises and began with only five students.

The school admits boys and girls between the ages of 2 and 5, who then can follow through their education to A Levels. It also runs a Women’s Teachers Training College affiliated to the school. It is the only school honored with the UNESCO Prize for Peace Education (2002), and the only to organize and host 15 international events for children each year.

The school’s inspirational motto is "Jai Jagat" ("Hail the World").
