Title: Air India.....we are running out of patience!
Post by Admin on 05. Feb 2006 at 14:06

Open Letter to AIR INDIA:

Hello Air India - SIT UP AND LISTEN TO US!  [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif]

Now that Uzbekistan Airways is taking the lead - the message to Air India is its about time you got your act together and launched a few more flights. Come on Air India it really can't be that difficult for the national carrier of India to launch a few more flights to Amritsar.  Are you not embarrassed?   :-[ Will it require the intervention of the Indian Government again?

Air India - You disappoint the community!  :( You know there is a massive market out there, you know you are charging (and seriously overcharging!) premium rates for the Amritsar Flights. You know you make more money from the Amritsar routes than the Delhi routes. You know your 3 flights a week are packed out whilst you struggle to fill the planes on the Delhi route. So what is stopping you?

So Air India, as you sit in your ivory towers in Mumbai - only thinking about 2 airports - Mumbai and Delhi - listen to the voice of the Punjabi community. Your excuse of "we don't have any spare planes" is not good enough. Do the obvious thing Air India - if you dont have any free aircraft - switch your aircrafts from the Delhi route to the Amritsar route!....NOW! .

Air India - You will make more money AND HELP THE PUNJAB COMMUNITY!

Air India - The Punjab Community is watching you and will not forget your actions.

To our Punjabi Community - come on everyone - we as a community have been silent for too long.  Let us put the pressure on Air India.   Add your voice and make yourself be heard. We have the power to change things. Believe in yourself and it will happen. Repy to this topic and voice your frustration....Good Luck! [smiley=dankk2.gif]

I agree with the above statement, Air India are trying to charge £800 on the Birmingham Amritsar route. If Air India can't do it let British Airways and Virgin fly to Amritsar or even Air Sahara. There needs to be a London - Amritsar flight also.

Don't loose hope! Because AI hace leased 1 more 777 aircraft, which means in 3 or 4 onths time AI flights to BHX/YYZ will double to 6, from ATQ.

Jet Air is on hold, with 4 flights a wk to BHX.

Well i feel it is more of strategy and econmics rather than AI trying to over charge people. You can buy BA return ticket from LHR to Bangalore for around £340 (around 10 hrs flight) but you will never get such cheap ticket in BA for Delhi (around 8 hrs). AI is always expensive whether it is LHR Del route or LHR BOM route. I have heard that this is due to excessive tax they have to pay in various airports around the world. Earlier India has increased its taxes (for parking fees etc) for non indian airlines (at that time £1=60) and foreign airlines/ Govts responded by increasing taxes in similar proportions for AI. I think thats why they are charging around 500 for BHX ATQ route. Well if u try to book AI directly from its own website u will find ticket for around 500.

I hope that explains but i join hands with everyone for demanding more services to ATQ including BA which is shying away. Atleast AI took some face saving steps by introducing this flight but why BA is not taking responsibility.

yes - air india has a strategy....it is called rip off!

Sure they start the prices at £510 but then ratchet the price up big time. I know people who end up paying £850.00 for an economy class ticket because they are disabled and need to have a non stop flight.

and then what about 40 passengers stranded because plane was over booked including businss class passengers who paid over £1200 per seat. 40 Passengers! how can you get this so wrong......hope the word greed is not part of the commercial strategy.

Air India are MILKING the AMRITSAR route because they are the only ones offering a non stop flight.

Richard Branson mentions plans for Amritsar nearly a year ago, does anybody have more information, maybe the travel agents that deal with Virgin could find out?

Virgin keen on more flights to India

March 31, 2005 19:24 IST

After the formal announcement of three flights a week from London to Mumbai, Virgin Atlantic Airways is now hoping it would get more flights to India during the next round of bilateral talks between the British and Indian governments early next month.

"We are hoping to make the service to Mumbai daily and add Bangalore, Hyderabad or Ahmedabad and Amritsar if given additional slots," Virgin chairman Richard Branson told a crowded media conference in Mumbai on Thursday.

"It will be better if there is open skies between the two countries so that some of the new entrants like Jet and Sahara can operate to more destinations in Britain and British carriers to India, which will benefit the customer as it would lead to lower fares," he said.

Asked if he is looking for investment in other sectors also, Branson said he is "having discussions" in the telecom sector but declined to elaborate.

"I use the airline as a bridge to various countries and possibly look at more businesses," he said.

The flamboyant chairman, dressed in 'kurta pyjama' said clear rules are necessary for investment in India as he is interested in "looking at financial services, health, music industry and, maybe, films too with the Virgin brand."

The operation of low cost airline depends on the quality, reliability and service, he said and cited the success of his budget airline Jet Blue in Australia.

On the over 500 seater Airbus A380 in which he plans casinos, gymnasium, double bedrooms, Branson said he may consider it to operate on the India route.

Well done Air India - you have listened and responded!

We understand Air India is now offering 6 flights a week from Birmingham from 06 May.

All is forgiven with Air India....

and now.....Richard Branson, BA and Jet Airways - follow the example!......

I am a tour operator based in Liverpool and I am considering chartering an aircraft for the routing MAN/ATQ for a trial 13 week rotation starting in Nov 06
I may actually consider flying from LPL as I am in discussions with the airport regarding commercial terms.
I just thought I would ask you for your thoughts on such a proposal, according to my own limited research, the demand for a routing from the north of england is very high but your input would be appreciated.

Amritsar Airport still lacks the metrological instruments thats why Virgin and BA are not keen to fly ATQ.The reason behind the high price of ticket is due to the high probability of cancellation of ATQ flights in minor adverse weather conditions due to lack of basic instruments.Air India and other reputer companies will cover this money from the customer as this hotel stays does not come free.On the contrary Slovakia,Ujbek will rarely allocate the hotel in such circumstances. One can't make a international by just putting the board.I think  that punjab govt. itself is not serious as other states are getting direct BA lhr flights like bangalore, chennai. They always blame the centre since 20 years.Even Halwara airforce station is converted to civil airport to facilitate the international operations but still they haven't implemented this annoucement.Air India is a sarkari company so they don't bother about the demand and its now depend on the state either to blame the centre or follow the footsteps of Andhra pradesh.

"eagleeye", you have got it alright, only if the punjab government did something about it ,would we, then, see some  action, but do you really expect anything from them, as the old saying goes , ji-na ne apni kuli fook dee ti oh kes see the banoo ki.
