Amritsar-Nanded air link sought

The Amritsar Vikas Manch (AVM) today sought an Amritsar-Nanded air link to help pilgrims pay their obeisance at Nanded in Maharashtra.  
 
In a letter to Prime Minister, President and Civil Aviation Minister, manch adviser Charanjit Singh Gumtala stated that tercentenary of Guru Gaddi Divas of Guru Granth Sahib was being celebrated on a large scale at Sachkhand Abchal Nagar, Nanded, next year and hence both the holy cities should be connected by air. He said Air-India and the Indian Airlines should take the initiative by launching flights to mark the forthcoming mega event of Sikhism.
 
He said efforts should be made to link Nanded with the UK, the USA, Canada, etc. via Amritsar so that visitors from these countries could easily visit these two shrines.
